Where and How to Find Mort'ton in OSRS gold

Mort'ton is a haunting, plague-ridden village nestled in the southern region of Morytania in Old School RuneScape (OSRS). Known for its ties to the "Shades of Mort'ton" quest, the Shade Burning minigame, and its proximity to the Barrows, Mort'ton is a key location for members seeking quest rewards, experience, and unique items. Before you set off, however, there's one non-negotiable requirement: completing the "Priest in Peril" quest. This quest unlocks access to OSRS gold Morytania itself, the region where Mort'ton resides, making it the first step for any adventurer hoping to reach the village.

The Non-Negotiable Requirement: Priest in Peril

You cannot enter Morytania-let alone Mort'ton-without finishing "Priest in Peril." This intermediate quest is relatively short and straightforward, tasking you with helping Drezel, a monk trapped in the Temple of Paterdomus, defeat a vampyre and lift the curse blocking access to Morytania.

Once completed, you'll cross the River Salve and enter Canifis, the first major town in Morytania. From there, Mort'ton is just a journey away, but the path you take depends on your stats, quest progress, and available resources.

    Fastest Methods to Reach Mort'ton

For seasoned players with the right unlocks, reaching Mort'ton can be done in seconds. These methods prioritize speed and convenience, ideal for players who visit the village frequently for minigames or quests.

    1. Mort'ton Teleport Scrolls

The quickest way to land directly in Mort'ton is by using a Mort'ton Teleport Scroll. These consumable scrolls teleport you straight to the center of the village, skipping all travel time entirely.

You can obtain these scrolls from all levels of Treasure Trails (except beginner clues) or purchase them from the Grand Exchange. Note that you must have completed "Priest in Peril" and spoken to Drezel afterward to use the scroll-otherwise, you'll receive an error message.

    2. Barrows Teleport (Spell or Tablet)

If you don't have Mort'ton Teleport Scrolls, the Barrows Teleport is a close second. This method requires either unlocking the Arceuus spellbook (with 60%+ Arceuus House favour) to cast the Barrows Teleport spell or purchasing Barrows Teleport Tablets from the Grand Exchange.

Once you teleport to the Barrows, simply run west for a short distance, and you'll reach Mort'ton. This is a great option for players who also plan to tackle the Barrows minigame after visiting the village.

    3. Morytania Legs 3+ Teleport

For players who have completed the Hard Morytania Diary, the Morytania Legs 3 (or higher) provides a convenient teleport to Burgh de Rott. From Burgh de Rott, run east, and you'll quickly reach Mort'ton's outskirts.

This method is ideal for players who have invested in diary rewards, as it also unlocks other useful perks in Morytania, making repeated trips to Mort'ton even easier.

Mid-Tier Methods: Fairy Rings and Agility Shortcuts

If you don't have access to the fastest teleports, fairy rings and agility shortcuts offer a balance of speed and accessibility, requiring minimal quest progress beyond "Priest in Peril."

    Fairy Rings

Fairy rings are a versatile transportation system in OSRS, and two codes can get you close to Mort'ton. First, you'll need partial completion of "Fairytale II - Cure a Queen" to access fairy rings at all.

Use the code BKR to teleport to the Hollows, then run to the nearby boat and sail to Mort'ton. Alternatively, if you have 50+ Agility, use the code BIP to teleport to the swamp, then use the hopping stone to reach Mort Myre Swamp and continue to Mort'ton.

    Agility Shortcuts

Players with 50+ Agility can use the hopping stone near the fairy ring code BIP to skip part of the swamp journey. This shortcut cuts down travel time through Mort Myre Swamp, which is otherwise slow and filled with ghasts that can rot your food.

Basic Method: Walking from Canifis (No Unlocks Needed)

If you're a new player or haven't unlocked any teleports or shortcuts, walking from Canifis is the reliable (but slowest) way to reach Mort'ton. This method requires no extra stats or quest progress beyond "Priest in Peril."

Start in Canifis and head west until you spot a farming patch. Turn south and go through the gate to enter Mort Myre Swamp. Once in the swamp, head west toward the river and follow its southern path-hug the river to avoid getting lost in the maze-like swamp terrain.

Continue south until you reach a bridge. Cross the bridge and follow the winding path; ignore any dead ends, and you'll soon arrive at Mort'ton. Be prepared for ghasts along the way-bring a Druid Pouch to ward them off and prevent your food from rotting.

Useful Tips for Your Journey to Mort'ton

No matter which method you choose, a few tips will make your trip smoother and safer. First, always bring food-Mort Myre Swamp is filled with aggressive ghasts, and Mort'ton itself is home to level 40 Loar Shades that will attack you on sight.

If you plan to stay in Mort'ton for the Shade Burning minigame or "Shades of Mort'ton" quest, bring a hammer (or Flamtaer Hammer for efficiency), tinderbox, and tarromin-these items are essential for completing the quest and minigame tasks.

Finally, consider completing "In Aid of the Myreque" to repair the bank in Burgh de Rott. This makes it easier to restock supplies if you're spending time in Mort'ton, as the village itself has no bank.
