Was cleaning out my bookmarks folder earlier and found a handful of pages I'd saved like two years ago when I was last hunting for a battery and never ended up using, and it got me thinking about how many of these places just quietly close up and nobody bothers to update their directory entries. There's one for a shop in the industrial area that I vaguely remember seeing recommended in a WhatsApp group but I can't recall if anyone actually followed through and visited, it's the
Battery Zone UAE local business directory listing that still shows an active phone number and a map pin but for all I know the guy retired and moved back to Kerala and the number just rings out to a disconnected tone. I'm not in a rush to replace anything right now but the weather is starting to turn properly brutal and I know from experience that my battery is going to start acting up in a month or two and I'd rather have a plan in place instead of scrambling at the last minute like I usually do. I suppose the only way to really know is to call on a random Tuesday afternoon and see if a human picks up, but part of me just wants to drive past and see if the shutters are up before I commit to anything. How do you lot vet these places without wasting half a day?
