I help manage a volunteer organization in Sharjah that provides supplies to labour camps and low-income communities, and one of our biggest challenges is having enough safe drinking water available for distribution. We've been using these large metal tanks but they're heavy, they rust, and honestly they make the water taste metallic which people hate. We need something that's food-grade, easy to transport, and won't affect the water quality. I've been looking at
Trusted Plastic Drums supplier in UAE options and I'm particularly interested in the 200L blue drums that are specifically designed for water storage. They seem to be made from food-grade HDPE which is supposed to be safe for potable water, and they have those screw-on lids that should keep contaminants out. But I'm a bit concerned about whether the plastic leaches anything into the water, especially when it's sitting in the heat for a while. Has anyone here used these plastic drums for drinking water storage? Do you need to treat the water differently or can you just fill them up and use it straight away? I want to make sure we're providing safe water to people who really need it, so I don't want to make any mistakes with the storage.
