So I was frantically refreshing every news site earlier during that major breaking story, trying to figure out what was actually going on. In the middle of the chaos, I clicked on a site that supposedly showed real-time viewer stats for various live streams. It was just this simple page showing a live counter, and for a second, it felt like I was seeing the global panic in real-time as the numbers shot up.
It got me thinking about how we all collectively swarm to information during a crisis. Has anyone else found themselves on weird, niche sites like that in the heat of the moment, just searching for any scrap of info? What's the strangest source you've relied on during a breaking news event?
I just tried to find it again; the site was something like this one I found in the
Opinion and Editorials section of a forum that shows a live viewer counter.
