The Magic 8 Ball: A Toy for Yes-or-No Answers
If you transform the 8 ball into a fortune-teller, you get the Magic 8 Ball. This hollow plastic sphere mirrors the look of a black pool ball. Albert C. Carter, also Abe Bookman invented the toy in 1946. Mattel manufactures the product today. You shake the sphere after you ask a yes or no question. You flip it over, and a 20-sided die that floats in dark blue alcohol reveals answers like "Reply hazy, try again" or "Outlook good." Carter drew inspiration from the clairvoyant tools of his mother. Early versions grew from toys like the Syco-Slate and the Crystal Ball. These used dice inside blue liquid to provide predictions. In 1950, Brunswick Billiards turned the item into a promotional tool, and it became a hit novelty. The die inside features 20 faces with balanced responses. Some answers confirm, some deny, in addition to others remain neutral. A reservoir holds about 100 ml of fluid. A window on the bottom allows you to view the result. Sizes vary, though the classic version mimics the appearance of a pool ball. Both children and adults use the toy for entertainment, from help with homework to party games. https://mycokenmethshop.com/what-is-an-8-ball-of-cocaine-costs-risks-and-more/
